I was fishing at San Pablo Dam Res. when this 21.1 lb trophy Channel cat hammered my 9" Castaic trout ! I was sure hoping for a world class bass. I had never caught a catfish on the trout lure in all of my time spent throwing it, but I caught another 6 lb'er on it about 1 hour before this one, and an 8 lb'er a week later.
Obviously, big catfish eat hatchery trout too !

This is a 23.1 lb trophy Channel cat that I caught at San Pablo Dam Res. on nightcrawlers and micro-light gear. It pulled straight down a steep slope to at least 80 feet of depth before it either got tired, or just ran out of oxygen, at which point I short pumped it all the way back to the boat. Talk about a battle !
